"Today is the day that we put color in our voices."

BECAUSE ONE DAY

IS NOT ENOUGH

On August 12 of each year we celebrate International Youth Day, created by the United Nations to recognize the efforts of the world's youth to improve global society.

At YMCA a single day is not enough. We need a week to show everything we do with thousands of young people in hundreds of communities in Latin America and the Caribbean.

So we invite you from August 10 to 15, 2020 to participate and learn about our best practices with which we want to inspire more people to become more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.

#WeAreYouthBecause

REGISTER YOUR MESSAGE WITH HIGH QUALITY

One of the easiest ways to participate in Youth Week is to tell the world why you volunteer.

All those people who share inspiring videos or images about what motivates them or why they do it from the YMCA, may be part of the set of testimonies that we want to share to motivate more people to be more of themselves.

So we want to share some indications so that the material you produce can join that of other young people and inspire many more people!

HOW TO TAKE A PHOTO TO INSPIRE OTHER PEOPLE

We know that you do fantastic things with people and we want you to tell the world with your words! So we leave you a little instructions with recommendations to take into account:

Materials: YMCA t-shirt (or some without any brand), a white sheet, a marker and someone who loves you very much and takes photos where you look nice.

Place: We want you to maintain social distance so it can be at home, looking for a space without elements that distract and allow us to focus on your message.

The idea: On the sheet you must write (in legible handwriting) a phrase that transmits what you do in a happy, fun and above all ... with your words.

Examples to know what my field is: If what you do is clean beaches of garbage and plastic, you are in the field of the environment. So you can say that: "Today is the day of those who turn garbage into safe spaces for the family".

VERY IMPORTANT: ALL TEXTS MUST START WITH THE SENTENCE "TODAY IS THE DAY OF WHO ..." AS THE IDEA IS TO CELEBRATE YOUTH DAY AND TELL THE WORLD WHY WE ARE PROUD OF OUR WORK.

The images can be sent through the coordinating person of your YMCA or directly to the mail brand@lacaymca.org with your name, age, city and counting a little more than what you do.

If you publish it on your networks, don't forget the hashtag #SomosJovenesPorque

LOVE AS A BACKGROUND

We suggest that you start using Gary Chapman's Five Languages of Love.

We will use these elements to create a language style different from that of other organizations.

The Five languages of love are the following:

- Words of affirmation.

- Quality time.

- Presents.

- Acts of Service.

- Hugs.

SOCIAL DISTANCE

NEAR ON LINE

Due to the pandemic, the event and all activities activities will be online.

Social networks:

Throughout the week we will present a daily theme and invite our young people to learn more about each topic, through videos and posters to share.

Online panels:

Using the Zoom platform, daily meetings will be opened with the aim of hearing real testimonies from other volunteers. I don't know

Daily challenges:

Our young people will have the possibility to transmit messages to share what motivates them to be volunteers.

INCLUSIVE AND AFFECTIVE LANGUAGE

We want that with emotional phrases, our volunteers share their motivations. For example:

Environment: Today is the day of those who dream of cleaner air.

Integral wellness: Today is the day of those who want to do good inside and out.

Volunteering: Today is the day of those who together live new experiences.

Art and culture: Today is the day of those who live the colors.

Citizen participation / Social inclusion: Today is the day of those who color our voices.

Youth entrepreneurship: Today is the day of those who chameleon ourselves with the world.
